About Us
Nick is the founder of ecoastal, a consultancy specialising in training, building capability and emergency risk management solutions for communities subject to climate change, tsunami and coastal zone hazards.
Nick has held a diverse mix of roles in all levels of Australian government in the environment and emergency management portfolio.
He has extensive experience in flood, coastal and tsunami emergency risk management and capability building, principally in ways humans can adapt and increase their resilience to natural and climate change hazards, particularly coastal processes.
From 2015-2018, Nick was Chair and NSW jurisdictional representative of the Australian Tsunami Advisory Group (ATAG), a reference group to the Australian and NZ Emergency Management Committee.
In his role with the NSW SES he was also Chair of the NSW SES Tsunami Capability Development Group, a cross-section of multi-skilled volunteers and paid members formed to address tsunami preparedness in NSW and determine plans of action to increase awareness and capability in the Service.
Previously, Nick was NSW SES Manager Geospatial Intelligence, providing leadership in GIS capability, and prior to that was NSW SES Manager Emergency Risk Management (ERM), where he provided quality assurance over SES planning and intelligence and coordinated input into floodplain and coastal zone risk management.
Nick has also held Intelligence and Planning roles in NSW SES State Incident Management Teams for large floods since 2010.
